ENERGEX crews hampered by 'rubberneckers'

15th of Jan 2011 ENERGEX crews are having difficulty reaching flood affected areas throughout Brisbane and Ipswich today due to congestion. More than 230 ENERGEX crews are trying to access areas where flood waters have receded in an effort to repair the network and restore supply. A large number of sightseers are causing traffic congestion and blocking access for emergency and other essential service vehicles. ENERGEX requests that volunteers please report to volunteer mustering points organised by the Brisbane City Council or Volunteering Queensland. Please limit unnecessary travel and sight seeing so emergency and other essential services may help to repair and rebuild our local communities. ENERGEX thanks the people of South East Queensland for their patience during power outages during and following the floods. Power outage information can be found at www.energex.com.au Source: Energex Media Release
