Jindalee Road Closure

Please be advised Sinnamon Road on ramp to Centenary Motorway is now closed. As a result traffic is very congested around the DFO, 17 Mile Rocks and the Jindalee area.

Jindalee DFO has been closed as a precaution.

Residents in Amazon Place are reminded that if need be they can make their way to the carpark of the DFO.

is the jindalee dfo area and coles carparks subject to flooding and when?

According to the flood map I have looked at the Jindalee DFO is safe from unindation from flood water.Unfortunately I have a property at CQ on Amazons' Place and are not so lucky. According to Brisbane Council my property will be underwater by the evening. About 3.3 metres of water to be exact. This is a nasty disaster for me especially seeing that Body Corporate Insurance does not cover flood. Hoping that it is not this serious however it has already breached the bordering properties of the estate and rising. Check this link http://lexiphanic.com/floodmaps/flooding_jindalee_flood_flag_map.pdf Cheers, Paul (Melbourne)

Thank you for your information (very helpful, needed to know whether Avanti Plus Jindalee Cycle Shop was flooded or not ) Wishing you all the best with your property......

Guys,

I own a townhouse in CQ Amazons Place up the back near DFO - I'm currently stuck overseas on operations with the RAAF and am having difficulty getting word on my property. Any latest information would be greatly appreciated as I will not be able to return home for at least a week.

Paul from Melbourne - is this true regarding the insurance that the body corporate provides? Thoughts/suggestions on this matter as I believe they should be responsible for the structures of the estate...

Thanks

I've asked on Twitter and hopefully we might get some more detailed information on your property. http://twitter.com/#!/qldfloodsorg/status/25299424611672066

im in the same boat jeremy, please anybody with info on this complex would be appreciated

Hi Jeremy,

I also live in Centenary Quays as well (unit 31) and had to abandon ship on tuesday. A few friends of mine have taken photos of the flood levels and the impact right now. From what I can see mostly all of the townhouses have been flooded however the riverfront ones are the worst hit. See attached some links to images taken yesterday and today. If you need any help or info don't hesitate to ask (ericdavid1@gmail.com). I will be going over today to assess the damage.

Thanks for the posting the pics. As devastating as they are, it's almost a relief to know what's happened, however bad. (I own a house on the front row :-o )

Hi guys,

Yeah the Centenary Highway is closed from Mt Ommaney to the Jindalee Bridge.   The shopping centre at Jindalee, the Jindalee Allsports complex, is completely under, as is the Bowls club etc.    As for all the property on the DFO side of the highway,  I was talking about it with someone today.  They said that all that land around Windamere Estate/River rocks park was only ever pastoral land because of it's flood risk....that's why the Sinnamon family home was built up high near the road.    I certainly hope it works out okay for you Jeremy.   Are you able to email your Body Corp contact, or perhaps your Real Estate Agent (if you have it rented out) - provided of course you don't rent it through Splash Real Estate or Centenary Real Estate at Jindalee -  they're both under water.       If you're on facebook, add/like Queensland Police Service - it's one of the best up-to-date sources out there, even better than the news channels.     Good luck, all the best.

I am an owner/landlord at CQ. I spoke to both the property manager and body corporate offices yesterday morning c9am. The entire complex was evacuated with the property manager property manager being the last to leave. He was certain that units at the front (including mine) would be flooded but was uncertain as to the extent. I have not bothered him since as he has enough to deal with but looking at some of the photos and footage available online it is likely many of the properties will have been inundated. I know the minimum habitable floor level is 11.0m AHD in my unit and the automatic river telemetry at Centenary bridge peaked last night at 12.9m AHD :-( This is the only info I have so please treat it as unconfirmed. The body corporate confirmed yesterday that flood damage is excluded from the cover which was very distressing news. It doesn't look good for owners and investors at CQ but, hey, no one's dead and from what the property manager said, all got out in good time. Sorry if thats not great news. If anyone has any further information on this area please post and let us know.

Anyone from CQ's aware of how much higher the units at the back (near DFO) are from those riverfront homes. My property is up near the top (past the pool) towards DFO. I'm now hoping that it is steeper than it probably is!

Hi Marty, we live in a t/house backing onto the DFO also, hoping it is ok. Sadly we dont know if our owner has secondary insurance to cover flood, sad for her if the place is damaged but where does that leave us? Its so hard to find many photos or any real info. Thanks so much to all who have posted on here. At least everyone is safe.

Hi to everyone and condolences for the loss of property and memories. I am also an owner/landlord in this complex and would really like to hear some factual info on the state of the complex. I have a waterfront villa and I would be very keen to see any footage or reports on the current state of the buildings. I have not bothered the manager (D&S) as Im sure their glass is full right now. Any info would be most appreciated as I am interstate.

Tim

Flew back from SYD today and went to see the village. It was a hive of activity with everyone affected cleaning up. This is by no means to be taken as 100% accurate but the flood started at the Villas at the front (estimated 1.5m of water through the ground floor) and then the water level decreases from there down to zero at unit 57 boudary line located on the centenary hwy side of the complex and the units at the highest point backing onto DFO seem dry along with 4 - 5 units down the roads leading to the river. The water didn't make it into the pool by about 10mm it looks. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but everyone was really getting in cleaning up. Didnt see the manager as everyone was so busy and many of the unafected units were locked up and still without people as the power was still being fixed pleanty of tradesmen on site doing power checks.

Hello i'm discount store operator in the jindalee village next to swimming pool, is there any photos or information on the flood on Looranah st? please email me if you have any photos , Thank you

To all,

I am filled with many emotions. I invested into CQ back in 04 and have always been extremely honoured to have property in such a tight knit community of wonderful people. Denis and Sandra, the managers, are the most genuine people you could meet and I have always known my property has been in good hands.

These floods are an absolute tragedy and I ground myself in the knowledge that my family and worldly (material) possessions are still with me; there are soooo many others that now do not have that comfort.

DavidM, your post again fills me with many emotions, but mostly with pride. Again the CQ community (like many others) have got together to focus on the way ahead.

I want to wish all affected by this disaster all the very, very best from here on.

Just spoke with Dennis, the property manager at Centenary Quays.
He has indicated the clean up effort is well and truely underway.
The water line went upto & reached about Unit 58/59 (he wasn't exactly sure), no water in the pool.
The river front homes copped about 1.5 metres.
Hopefully it won't be long and everything will be back to normal!!

Hi Marty
Are you able to give me an update on our property Unit 35/28 Amazons Place please or perhaps you have Dennis's cellphone number so that I may call him. Just so devastated to hear about the destruction.

June, looking at map you may have missed the water, depends on the lay of the land. Denis is on 0421025163. He will know.

Thanks Marty. Just spoke to Dennis. We are one of the lucky ones, not a drop of water touch our Unit. Unfortunately 35 were damaged and 25 of those seriously. Dennis has said they had lots of helpers to clean up but it will be a while before everything is normal again. Power is not on yet so every night they all have to find other accommodation. We wish them all well.

I spoke to Denis very briefly this morning and not surprisingly he was extremely busy. I am an interstate owner (Unit 61) and also have been very concerned about the impact of the floods on the residents and property at CQ. Apparently, Unit 61 (near the pool & adjoins the LHS boundary) just missed the floodwaters. Denis said that there has been a real communal effort to help clean up CQ, and although it is hard for me as an interstater to come to terms with this event, I greatly appreciate the efforts by all.
