Reviewing the Day...Victorian Floods Tuesday Jan. 18, 2011

Today began with the news Victorians had been dreading to hear, the discovery of the body of the young boy who went missing at Kialla near Shepparton. Lachlan Collins' body was found in the billabong off the Goulburn River four metres down.

Victorian Floods Affected Towns 18/1/11

Flood-affected towns as of 1:45pm 18/1/11

Appin South – Loddon River at major flood but falling, after peaking at 3.5m yesterday afternoon

Arcadia Downs – Goulburn River currently around 10.16m and rising higher than predicted. Now expected to peak at about 10.4m later today

Charlton – Avoca River still at minor flood, below 5.8m, but falling slowly after peaking at 8.05m at 4am on Saturday

Victorian Floods Relief and Recovery Centers

List of relief (and recovery) centre locations:

Ararat: Municipal Office, Barkly Street

Ballarat: The Phoenix, 25 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat

Beaufort: 5 Lawrence Street, Beaufort

Boort: Boort Primary School, 13 King Street, Boort

Bridgewater: Bridgewater Hall

Calivil: Calivil Senior Citizens Centre

Clunes: Clunes Health Centre, 69 Service Street, Clunes

Cohuna: Currently Cohuna Recreation Reserve. From midday today (Tues) it will then be moved to Cohuna Secondary College.
