How can a sydneysider help aside from money donation?

Hi nice punk, I am also in Sydney and I also want to lend a hand. I can't afford to donate at present, so I'm planning to drive up when I know the roads are open (maybe next week?). I have a 5 seat 4wd, so I can fit 3 extra passengers - so anyone from Sydney who wants to head north to help, please get in touch. My mobile is 0404 77 19 65. Thanks, Gordon.

I have an entire household of furniture to donate - fridge, tv, tv unit, coffee table, couch, rug, table + 6 chairs, bed and all kitchen items - plates, glasses etc

Can anyone put in a truck or trailer and take to Brisbane?

Hi AS19, I should be taking a trailer with me when I head north. Not sure what we will be abe to fit - I will have roof racks too. Where are you located? I am northern beaches, Allambie Heights. Give me a call on 0404 77 19 65 and we will see what we can workout. Thanks, Gordon.

Where are you? I am organising donations of goods in the Coffs harbour area. I am enlisting the help of a removalist to store the stuff and eventually take it to queensland. Perhaps they can collect your stuff if they do a run to your area from here and have an empty truck on the way back. Interestingly I am having trouble finding a charity that will accept and distrubte stuff. They all seem to want money and say they don't want goods. Back in 1974 army trucks collected goods from the public in Sydney to transport to Cyclone Tracey victims. Times have changed with the corportisation of charities. It seems they just want money, some of which they can throw at victims and keep the rest for admin! Surely furniture etc is really going to help people who have lost everything and were under-insured or not insured and also renters. You can't tell me that government/charity handouts are going to cover everything for every affected household. Donating household stuff is surely going to help these people.

Hi Sally, if you can arrange someone to coolect at Coffs Harbour, I have a contact in QLD (Goondiwindi) who is distributing items into the disaster areas. I am sending pallets of things and he is sorting them out. If you want to chat about getting things there, just email me princess_becka_@hotmail.com or Facebook me and I will get back to you to make an arrangements!
Hope I can be of assistance!
Cheers,
Beck

There are a a small group of organisations and people here in Brisbane that have already banded together in a serious School Supplies appeal. We have donations from Officeworks and other businesses coming, and will be distributing to schools that have been most affected, if not completely wiped out first, but to all schools with families that have lost all their school needs and uniforms. Can you please follow us on http://www.facebook.com/pages/School-Supplies-for-Qld-Flooded-Families/1... and keep in contact with us there. We will be publishing a list of resources most urgently needed by the schools and kindies tog et up and running again! Thanks everyone for your efforts!
