Reviewing the Day...Victorian Floods Tuesday Jan. 18, 2011

Today began with the news Victorians had been dreading to hear, the discovery of the body of the young boy who went missing at Kialla near Shepparton. Lachlan Collins' body was found in the billabong off the Goulburn River four metres down.

Throughout the day the flood watch was on a number of towns where peaks were expected.  Horsham survived a peak of 4.27 metres and the waters started to recede after that.  However, Warracknabeal, Quantong and Quambatook were then next on the alert list and had evacuation alerts over the afternoon.

Kerang was also busy especially, as workers and residents were working to protect a power substation from the floods.

Meantime, Victoria's Premier Ted Baillieu announced a special task force and established an appeal with the Red Cross.

And finally, one website detailed how all the social media had been used in both the Queensland and Victorian floods.
